{"id":1088,"date":"2013-12-09T23:29:32","date_gmt":"2013-12-09T23:29:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wrigley.me.uk\/wp\/?p=1088"},"modified":"2013-12-09T23:29:32","modified_gmt":"2013-12-09T23:29:32","slug":"enabling-lxdm-in-fedora-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wrigley.me.uk\/2013\/12\/enabling-lxdm-in-fedora-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Enabling lxdm in Fedora 19"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Quick tip.<\/p>\n<p>Long story short, I decided to swap out gdm for a lighter display manager on an underpowered machine.<\/p>\n<p>I found the lxdm is packaged, but when I ran the system-switch-displaymanager helper script it told me that:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The graphical display manager lxdm is not supported yet.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I had a poke around in the system-switch-displaymanager code and found that it is very simple, and does this:<\/p>\n<p><code>rm -f \/etc\/systemd\/system\/display-manager.service<\/p>\n<p>systemctl enable $DM.service<br \/>\n<\/code><\/p>\n<p>Where $DM is what you pass it (one of GDM, KDM, XDM, WDM or LIGHTDM, currently).<\/p>\n<p>So I checked if lxdm had a systemd service script (it does) and did that myself:<\/p>\n<p><code> rm -f \/etc\/systemd\/system\/display-manager.service<\/p>\n<p> systemctl enable lxdm.service<br \/>\n<\/code><\/p>\n<p>and it worked.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Quick tip.
